GPS Speed Over CAN

It is now possible to read in GPS speeds over CAN from the AIM Dashboards. We will be opening this up to other sources soon, so let us know if you have a preferred GPS speed source.

Easy Configuration in T-Win

Setting up your AIM Speed source is simple. In T-Win, just select the CAN bus that the AIM dash is connected to.

Note: The AIM dash needs to be configured to send the GPS on the correct CAN ID.

This configuration will override any wheel speed sensors connected directly to the ECU. Only use this if there are no wheel speed sensors connected to the ECU.

ECU Speed Limits

The main reason for adding this functionality is that many rally series are now implementing speed restrictions on stage.
Using wheels speeds connected to the ECU cannot cater for tyre wear, which can account for up to 8 kph/6 mph speed differences between new and worn tyres.

This is not an issue with GPS speed, as the speed of the vehicle is measured directly.

To configure the maximum speed, navigate to the wheel speed settings.
